Combat Terrain Information Systems (CTIS) This US Government project seeks to enhance the capabilities of a fielded system by adding military format importers and exporters, enhancing flood modeling in IMAGINE VirtualGIS, providing dedicated support to users and enhancing user interfaces. Consolidated releases of patches and upgrades will ensure this user community has the most recent upgrades and fixes to load on their systems. A creative emergency licensing policy will permit restoration or on-the-spot creation of additional systems in case of catastrophic loss in combat or under emergency conditions.
Geospatial Solutions for Telecommunications The Integrated Solutions Group is creating a mix of custom tools for a large European telecommunications company to improve the production throughput of a proprietary mix of existing and prototypical geospatial products. The tools will be used in the analysis and modification of telecommunications infrastructure.
GeoTools The Integrated Solutions Group is working to develop a multispectral image processing tool designed to improve geospatial functionality of geospatial production workstations using innovative classification algorithms. Creative use of an work-flow, process guide based on the soon-to-be-released Expert Classifier and a U.S. government classification technique called Nested Frame Resampling make this initiative quite promising as a new method of spectral data analysis. This project began as a requirements-study to evaluate the tools required to understand complex geospatial analysis in an production environment and evolved to a large-scale development effort for a U.S. Government agency.
IMAGIZER Project This project provides the US Government with a minimal viewer and view-mastering capability distributed with standard geospatial products. The customer acquired several mastering packages, allowing them to develop a new standard product based upon a bundled data / viewer solution using IMAGIZER. IMAGIZER is an essential element of new Cooperative Research and Development work with the US Government as well as being modified to support the JDTM project mentioned below. Several interested parties in the international community may soon spawn continued customization along still more lines of interest.
Joint Mapping Toolkit (JMTK/NIMA Tools) The Integrated Solutions Group is deeply involved in the NIMA-sponsored investigation to establish the utility of a commercial off the shelf variant of JMTK. This Congressionally mandated examination of COTS geospatial software consists of a preliminary evaluation of government requirements, followed by a demonstration and prototyping stage. When the superiority of this solution is established, Leica Geosystems may elect to complete the development of a joint Leica Geosystems-ESRI Toolkit meeting the needs of the entire DOD. The Leica review process includes "MINT," "MATRIX," MET; Joint Mapping Visualization functions as well as Joint Mapping Utility functions.
Prototype Global Positioning System (GPS) Tool The Integrated Solutions Group created this tool to demonstrate the utility of inputting GPS-derived positions into a real-time IMAGINE Viewer. The tool accepts an NMEA signal from any commercial GPS receiver and plots the resulting position on the IMAGINE 2D Viewer. Users may choose to have the map move beneath the position icon as it moves (e.g. in an automobile or airplane) across the Viewer as the vehicle changes position. A button click permits the user to stop all movement, permitting on-screen annotation or digitizing of observed phenomena. This IMAGINE add-on also features a user-programmable, tabbed, pre-mission interface enabling users to configure vector collection capabilities before a collection event. User defined colors and shared files enable the concurrent collection of features by networked systems. Primarily designed for airborne surveys, this tool is also ideal for collecting ground truth for a variety of applications.
Transportation Infrastructure Network Tool This joint ESRI - ERDAS (now a proud member of Leica Geosystems) project produced a push-button production system for development of specific geospatial products. The tool uses an ArcView "Front-end" supported by ERDAS IMAGINE software for Image processing and raster GIS functions and ArcInfo for Vector GIS functions. The system also features a shared data catalog that enables ERDAS IMAGINE software raster files and ESRI Arc/Info files to appear in the same catalog viewer. The push button approach permits lesser-trained individuals to produce simple geospatial products and to view and use a variety of more complicated products. The Integrated Solutions Group-provided tools include: Integration with selected, US government stereo mensuration software A simplified (minimal dialog), TINet-oriented menu system Integrated, Feature Extraction using US government imagery and ERDAS Stereo Analyst An import and DEM generation module for NIMA's Digital Point Positioning Database (DPPDB)
Weather Effects in Army Battle Command Systems This innovative project is intended to explore the limits of the IMAGINE Virtual GIS product by dynamically accepting weather and "weather effects" information from a number of topographic and weather systems. Users will be able to visualize the impact of weather on military operations, both friendly and enemy, thus providing a means to use weather a force multiplier and planning tool rather than having to accept the vagaries of weather as they come. This new tool will be integrated with planning tools from Command and Control Systems to ensure optimal usage by military planners.
