- ERDAS TITAN Client
The ERDAS TITAN Client is used to engage with individuals and communities on the ERDAS TITAN Network. It is freely downloadable and distributable from www.lggi.com/titan. The ERDAS TITAN Client comprises the following two components:
- Geospatial Instant Messenger
This application implements a communications protocol allowing users within the ERDAS TITAN Network to share, chat, discover, access and ultimately retrieve geospatial data and web services. Using this interface, users click and drag the data that they want to share into the ‘MyData’ folder and the data is then published to the ERDAS TITAN Network. Subsequently, other users are able to discover and access that data.
Through the Geospatial Instant Messenger, geospatial data and web services shared by others on the ERDAS TITAN Network are consumed into a variety of desktop, Internet and 3D virtual globe applications. ERDAS TITAN enables those datasets to be streamed from the user directly to your computer, and ultimately into these various client applications.
Data published using the Geospatial Instant Messenger also automatically creates an OGC compliant Web Map Service (WMS). WMS Server capability is embedded in the ERDAS TITAN Client and runs on the local machine. The dataset(s) published may then be consumed directly by any desktop application with the ability to read (consume) a WMS (this includes OGC Web Client Applications, ERDAS Imagine, ArcMap, uDig, Quantum GIS, Manifold, GeoMedia, Autodesk etc).
- ERDAS TITAN Viewer
This is a free web-based application that enables a global network of users to interactively visualize and share data. The Viewer features a 3D virtual globe, and base imagery for the globe is streamed from the GlobeXplorer data store located in Walnut Creek, California. Users have the ability to add their own local data (images, web services, 3D models, features) and look at data that others in the network are sharing.
- ERDAS TITAN GeoHub
A GeoHub enables organizations to create their own secure community within the ERDAS TITAN Network (or any isolated network, see Master Server). A GeoHub enables both internal and external permission-based data within a secure network. In a GeoHub environment, participants are 'subscribers' to the GeoHub. The GeoHub is managed by an Administrator who performs functions including authenticating users, creating groups, setting policies (share/no share), generating reports, and more.
- ERDAS TITAN Master Server
Some organizations want to replicate the ERDAS TITAN Network, but require operating separately as their own isolated network. The ERDAS TITAN Master Server enables any organization to deploy an autonomous network. The Master Server acts as a registry service, or master user management system, for all the GeoHubs and individual users on a network. The Master Server handles all GeoHub and individual registrations and takes login requests for the entire network. The Master Server also manages all user profile and subscription data, and enables all communication between GeoHubs and individual users for an entire network.
- ERDAS TITAN Web Cache Server
An ERDAS TITAN Web Cache Server scales a GeoHub, providing additional support for a large number of users over a broad geography. A Web Cache Server:
- Scales as a function of data volume and online users
- May be implemented to improve data throughput for geographically dispersed users
- Provides increased refetch efficiency for cached data
- Ensures client-side performance and the ability to scale to a large number of clients
